The MOVE-ON architecture

The MOVE-ON system comprises of two main subsystems, the Distance Learning Platform (DLP) and the smartphone (iPhone) application. Learners have access to the system only via the smartphone interface. Tutors and content providers (e.g. educational institutions) have access to the system via the DLP. The two subsystems communicate over the Internet.

The smartphone application comprises of a native shell application that handles the content delivery and the local data storage. It is also connected to the DLP for dynamic content delivery and for uploading the final exam results for each course. For that purpose, the DLP publishes certain services over an application programming interface (API). Course content is in HTML5 format.
